A Month of Ups and Downs

Being a mother is the most rewarding job in the world. There is no better feeling than when your child hugs you, kisses you, tells you "I ub ooo," asks to snuggle... the list goes on and on. Watching them grow and change and LEARN makes every second of the hard work worth it. I find peace in what has been a roller coaster of emotions this month when I'm being a mom.
My other job (teacher) has brought on a ridiculous amount of stress these past few weeks. Originally I thought it was just me, being hormonal and all, overreacting to the work I was being handed. Until I observed all the people around me being effected in the same way. I won't get into the details, but it's just been too much and I've had a hard time dealing. Luckily, my Spring Break is in sight and I can look forward to 10 sweet days of much needed R&R.
A week ago from this past Friday I received a call from my husband in the morning saying not to worry, but that he was driving himself to the ER because he had fallen through the attic and cut his leg badly. WHAT!?! I didn't know what to do as I was stunned and in shock. Well, the minor panic quickly subsided and I immediately left work to meet him at the hospital not really knowing what to expect. Let's just say it wasn't good. It was so bad that the ER docs didn't think they could fix it and sent us to a Plastic Surgeon. As they prepared the area before starting to work on it (60ish running stitches)I had to witness my beloved husband in agonizing pain. All I could do was be there for him and give him the support he needed. We are now about 10 days after the accident and he is still laid up and quite restricted as far as movement goes, but he's healing and getting better. I've added a third job title to my resume now- Nurse Kennedy. Each morning I am lucky enough to have to give him an injection in his stomach to prevent blood clots. NOT FUN. But you do what you have to do. After all of this I just thank God that the outcome wasn't worse, because it could've been much, much worse.
Enough of the downers... the rest of this month will surely bring me happiness. As I said earlier Spring Break is on the horizon, PJ is getting better with each passing day, and I get to spend lots of time with my little guy very soon. We had fun this weekend too. Mimi and Titi came to help with the yard and washing the dog (PJ's normal household duties). They also prepared a wonderful Irish dinner yesterday for St. Patty's Day.
Yum! Yum! Corned beef, potatoes, carrots, and cabbage!
After the scrumptious meal we walked to the park in our neighborhood where Landon enjoyed himself tremendously. Big boy slide! Check out my hair!
And here I am earlier today. 28 weeks pregnant. Only 2 1/2 short months until we get to meet Connor!

Feels Like Summer!

It has been hot, hot, hot here in Central Florida the past few weeks. We still have the occasional AMAZING weather day, like today, when it's sunny in the mid to high 60's, but these days quickly come and go. We have been enjoying the outdoors a lot lately. It's kind of become a routine to run around outside with Kingston for about 30 minutes when we get home from work/the sitter's everyday.
A few weekends ago Landon and I met some friends at the Duck Derby at Mead Gardens. The main event was a large rubber duck race in the pond. Landon was so intrigued! He just stared with this big smile on his face. There were other things going on as well. Landon enjoyed music played by Mr. Richard (a local musician who writes/performs kid's songs) and also got to meet some firemen. He even got to sit inside of a fire truck! And when our visit was over he was given his own fire hat and badge.
Fireman Landon
Yesterday the family took our first beach trip of 2012. The first of many, I'm sure. We packed a lunch and headed out to Cocoa. It was incredibly beautiful out. Landon squealed with joy when we got there. He kept saying, "Beach! Beach! Beach!" We had a lot of fun, however relaxing trips to the beach are definitely a thing of the past. Our little boy was constantly running around, picking up seashells, splashing in the water, basically not staying still for even a second.
He got some practice balancing on a surfboard...

Explored with Daddy...

And practice his surfing skills a little more. We got to watch Daddy have some fun out in the ocean on a long board as he caught some waves. When it was time to go it was evident that Landon objected. I think I would call it his first full blown temper tantrum. He DID NOT want to leave. He screamed, he let his body go limp and threw himself to the ground sobbing. He carried on for a good 10-15 solid minutes until he got distracted when we stopped by a friend's house. And when we put him back in the car to go home, he started saying "Beach? Beach?" He is definitely our son.
I'm 26 weeks pregnant now. Connor is weighing in a little over 2 lbs and it's hard to miss the basketball in my stomach these days. My back is starting to feel it too. Looks like I'll be seeking back rubs in the near future from my loving husband :)
