Oh What a Night

Yesterday was a big day for our furry son. Kingston, at 10 months old, got neutered. What a stressful day for mommy! I dropped him off at 7:30am and did a good job keeping busy the rest of the day as an attempt to keep my mind off of what was happening to our beloved pet. 2 loads of laundry, worked on my student's book project-(don't ask), got an oil change, read 3 chapters of my current book of choice, went shopping, and cleaned the floors. He did really great and was ready for pick up at 5:00pm. When PJ and I got him he was so shaky and crying and it just broke my heart.
So I thought all was well when we went to bed at 10:00, but I was mistaken. He woke us up at 1:00am by loudly licking himself, which of course is a BIG no-no. So I had to resort to the cone. Kingston didn't understand the cone. He was afraid of the cone. He didn't like the cone one bit. So mommy spent the next 4 hours trying to put him at ease and help him relax so that he could fall asleep. Success came at 5 o'clock in the morning. Needless to say, today I'm a little off. Luckily it's my Spring Break, so no work. I rest when he rests. What great practice for when baby arrives, right?
I'm 26 weeks pregnant now and still feeling great. Last weekend Paul, Kingston, and I enjoyed spending time at our friend's house out at the beach. Kingston had his friend Henry to play with. On Saturday night Paul and I went to a reggae festival on Cocoa Beach with a bunch of friends. At the request of the drunk people that accompanied me, we ended up at Denny's for a late night meal. That would be insignificant, except for the fact that this is where Paul felt the baby kick for the first time. 12:30am, sitting in a booth at Denny's. Too funny. He was elated. It was a special moment- no matter where we were.
This upcoming weekend we're headed down south to spend Easter with my parents. We haven't been down since Thanksgiving, so I can't wait! Happy Easter, everyone!

24 Weeks Prego

Yesterday I had my 24 week checkup. Everything continues to go well during this pregnancy. My little boy's heartbeat was going strong at 140 beats per minute. Listening to it with the Doppler will never get old. I met a different doctor yesterday. He is very nice. I'm going to try to meet all 5 doctors in the office before the big day so that a stranger doesn't end up delivering the baby. 2 down, 3 to go.
It's already time to start signing up for birthing/breastfeeding classes and the such. I can't believe how quickly time is passing! I get more and more excited everyday. Hopefully I can talk PJ into painting the nursery this weekend. Wish me luck with that one. :)
The thing I'm enjoying most at the moment is the feeling of little boy Kennedy kick away. He has been very active over the past few weeks and a pattern has developed. I can feel him most often after I eat a meal. He's getting stronger day by day, and now I can actually see my stomach move when he gives a good kick. It's so incredible!
So here I am at 24 weeks. No hiding it anymore!

22 Weeks and Counting

Well, another week has passed and the belly continues to grow. I'm still feeling really good- plenty of energy, hearty appetite, sleeping well, etc. The only thing that's been a little bothersome (and kind of new- like within the past week or so) is a nagging sore lower back. Believe it or not it actually feels better while/after I work out. It's pretty rough in the mornings, so I'm wondering if it's the way I'm sleeping. Who knows!
This past weekend PJ and I went to town clearing out the soon-to-be nursery. I am happy to say that we now have a blank canvas to work with. Originally we had a guest room and an office/guest room. We did some rearranging, got rid of a few things, and now we have an empty room to work with. Next comes the painting! Woo hoo!
