The Big Day!

Well, in approximately 11 hours Paul and I will be parents of a newborn baby boy. I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!! No, seriously, it still doesn't feel real. I'm going to be going to bed here soon, and when I wake up (at 5:45AM) I'll be getting ready to head to the hospital so that I'm there for 7AM. WHAT?!? My cesarean is scheduled for 9AM. We will have one last scan to see if Landon decided to turn. If not- to surgery we go. If so- I'll be getting induced. So either way tomorrow, June 30th 2010, will be the day our precious baby boy is born.
This evening PJ took me out to dinner for "my last supper" as he put it (I'll be on a liquid diet for the next day). I decided I wanted Mellow Mushroom. YUM! It was everything I could have hoped for. :) If you've been there, you know what I'm talking about. Our last dinner date before our baby arrives was very nice.
So tomorrow I'll be 39 weeks pregnant. Sorry, no belly pic today. I'll have Paul take a picture tomorrow morning before leaving for the hospital for the next time I write. We celebrated our 2nd anniversary on June 21st and decided to buy a Cannon Rebel. It's a GREAT camera. It will be coming with us to the hospital so look for some pics of baby boy on my next post too! We couldn't be more excited.

Waiting for Baby

It's official- I'm on my summer vacation!!! Oh the joy of waking up naturally, well, to a dog pressing his cold nose against me asking "please get up and feed me" rather than an annoying alarm clock. I've said goodbye to my LGE (Lake George Elementary) family until my return from maternity leave in October. I've managged to stay busy this week though- running around doing errands, 3 doctor's appointments, shopping for last minutes things, going to the gym, finishing up lamaze class, washing everything for the baby- but I've also snuck in a couple of afternoon naps. Oh how I love those naps, especially since I get up on average 3 times a night to use the restroom. It's all good though. Well, almost all good.
You see, last week at my doctor's appointment I found out that Landon is frank breech. This means that his butt is where his head should be, down in/near my pelvis. His legs stretch straight up toward his head, so it's like he's folded in half. The baby is in no danger at all, he's just positioned incorrectly which means if he stays like that I won't be able to deliver him the natural way. Doctors won't deliver breech babies vaginally because of the high risk of injury for baby and mom- especially with a first time pregnancy. Only 3% of babies are breech at time of delivery, and with each passing day the chance of him turning gets smaller and smaller. I've gone through the different emotional phases- shock, anger, saddness, and since I've had a week to digest this info I'm moving more toward acceptance. Not that I'm going to stop doing the silly things I've been doing to try and help him find his way, but what is meant to be will be and I will be okay with whatever the next few weeks bring me.
So that was last week, and this week I had an ultrasound to recheck his position, look at amniotic fluid levels, check out his size, things like that. Everything looked great. I'm 37 weeks, and the boy measured around 7lbs 13 ounces! They do say that the weight could be off by a pound in either direction, but he definately looked healthy with a round belly and adorable chubby cheeks. It wasn't 3-D or anything so the picture wasn't that great but it sure was nice to get a sneak peak of what I'll be cuddling with in just a short while. We'll be scheduling a cecerean in two weeks in the case that he remains in his breech position, but you never know- miracles can happen! I'll keep you posted...

Our Nursery!

So after much hard work the nursery is nearly complete. The only thing left to do is add a few pictures to the wall underneath the shelf when our baby boy arrives. I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. My wonderful husband put up the beautiful wainscoting, picked out the furniture color (cherry), and decided to get one of his surf boards painted to mount as artwork until our little man can start riding it in a few years. I think it looks so fantastic!
The amazing diaper cake sitting on the changing table was made by my best friend Amanda. Truly awesome! I don't want to take it apart! :)
All we need now is baby Landon! The due date is getting close, and we're doing what we can to prepare. So far we've taken a basic infant care class, I've attended a breastfeeding class, and we are currently half way through a four week lamaze course. In a few weeks we will also take a tour of Winnie Palmer Hospital. I'm getting more excited with each passing day. :)
Here I am at 35 weeks pregnant. It's the home stretch and now I am making weekly visits to the doctor. I only have one more week of work (woo hoo!) and then I can focus on relaxing a little bit before the big day arrives.
